Critical Thinking

When it comes to critical thinking it is probably the last thing on our minds. Most of the time we don’t stop to think and we just take the easy way out. When we, as human beings, make a decision do we end up doing the right thing or making the wrong decisions? Is critical thinking worth the time or is it better to save time and take the easy out?
When you tell someone to think critically and make the right decision most people don’t have a clue what you’re talking about and just ignore you. Others could care less about critical thinking because they’re comfortable with what decisions they’ve made. To others critical thinking is an important part to their daily lives. Critical thinking helps us to make the right decisions whether we like it or not. It’s like an organizer for some people or a parent telling them to stop and do the right thing. We all face difficult decisions in life and most of the time we don’t even know it.
I remember going to the mall with my sister one summer. She wanted to buy clothes for the school year. I thought it would take about an hour or forty-five minutes, but was I wrong. She took three hours to shop for a pair of jeans. I asked her why she took so long and her explanation was that, she had to think it through and ask herself a whole bunch of questions whether it was worth it buying the pair of jeans. I mean, come on it’s a pair of jeans. Since she’s a college student she needs to use her money wisely and she wanted to make sure the jeans would last a more than a year, especially since price of the jeans were expensive. She took her time and thought critically about how much the jean were and if they’ll last as lone as they were worth.
As human beings we don’t think before we buy or do something. We tend to go with want we want and not what is best for us. If we learn to discipline ourselves and teach ourselves how to think critically I believe that it can benefit us in the future.
Sometimes the easy way out is not always the best way because of the consequences that follow. If we stop and think thing through there won’t be as many problems. Whether we make the right decisions or not if we think critically we’ll have a better chance of not making mistakes.
